THE ROAD TO SCHOOL BOOKS REVIEW

The Long Way to School tells the thrilling story of Seconde Nimenya, who grew up in Burundi, Africa, in the 1970's.

Nimenya is the author of three other books,

including the book Evolving Through Adversity.

Long Way to School is her youngest reader of the book.

rewritten to encourage middle-aged

and high school students to overcome challenges in their lives.

Western students will not only find out how good they are compared to people in developing countries, but they will also find anything that can happen if you are determined to succeed.

Seconde Nimenya's story is one of unwavering determination as he faces challenges and a continuing desire to learn and rise above his own circumstances, no matter what.

From an early age, Nimenya refused to give up. As a baby, she crawled into the fire as her mother walked out of the room for a minute. Her parents had to take her to a nearby hospital, an hour's drive away, but since they had no car, they walked.

Whether she was living in poverty and could not afford basic necessities, struggle to get an education, travel around the world, or face bullies at school and in health, Nimenya did not give up. His perseverance through many hardships is what made him who he is and informed his purpose in life.

The long journey to school is a matter of achieving the goal of education even though it is difficult. Nimenya did not even touch the book until she was in sixth grade.

I doubt that any student in North America has experienced the hardships Nimenya experienced while going to school, but she was determined to succeed, and she did. Eventually, she married and moved to Canada and then to the United States. She went to college, and perhaps most surprisingly, a girl who didn't even know what a book was at a young age, grew up to be a writer. He is now the author of four books and plans to write many more.

The long road to school will open the eyes of anyone to the rights we take for granted in public education in the United States. Nimenya said, "I believe that education is the only solution that empowers communities and has the power to end the cycle of poverty and violence." His academic commitment, the obstacles he has overcome, and his achievements will open the eyes and inspire young students.

Nimenya's message is hopeful and encouraging. He believes that with determination, people can always achieve their dreams. No matter how difficult the journey, he tells us "Persevere, as I was, even if it was a long way to go to school because I didn't know that when I got there, it would be worth it."

The Long Way to School is a great book for young students everywhere. It can be an appropriate study assignment for history, social studies, and English classes.

In addition to discussing her story, Nimenya shared some leadership details, "Ten Leadership Practices for Your Youth and Beyond," for students to develop.

He also provides a set of "Thinking Questions"

at the end so that students can apply the concepts and ideas

they have learned in their lives, helping them

discover their goals and the future they want to build for themselves.

Seconde Nimenya's writing style is easy to read,

and is suitable for younger students from middle to high school.

The cover fits the book well because it shows a little girl struggling to walk to school

when the school was so far away from home - a realistic and figurative picture of where Nimenya's life was.

Learn what this little girl has to endure.

and you will understand how to do your best in any situation with patience.

I highly recommend the long way to school.
